Gurgaon and Faridabad are in for more power cuts. The Haryana government has announced an eight-hour cut in power supply to urban areas and completely switched off supply to heavy industrial units.
The power and electricity situation in our area is horrendous. With such breakdowns happening year after year after year, how can we progress? How can industries produce? How can the economy grow? How can people be peaceful and productive when this daily grind is driving them nuts? Who should be held responsible for this dismal power situation? There has to be some accountabilty of the government to the people ...
- In urban areas, power will be supplied for lighting purposes from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and 12 noon to 5:00 p.m.
- Power to all industries with a load of 1 MW and above would be cut off for the next one week, an official statement said on Sunday.
- Power supply to streetlights would be switched off for the next one week.
- There is a ban on the use of air conditioners in state government offices for the next one week as well as on ostentatious use of electricity.
- The labour department would ensure that shopping hours were strictly adhered to and shops closed by 8.00 p.m.
