Review Of The Fox Restaurant In Gurgaon

GurgaonSCOOP - Your friendly neighborhood site.
Ambience of The Fox, Gurgaon.

For Reservations at the Fox please call (0124) 256 0056.

As you enter The Fox in Gurgaon, you will see the restaurant's art gallery with a collection of wildlife paintings on display. These are a feast for the eye. Locating the restaurant shouldn't be a problem, as it is housed in Vatika — First India Place — in the heart of the city. A breathtaking, ornate designer bar stands as the grand centrepiece. With its soothing lights and stainless steel finish, the bar immediately casts a spell on you.

The restaurant can seat about 100 people. Elegant furniture and furnishings match the marble and wooden flooring.

Another interesting feature of the restaurant is the absence of `solid' walls anywhere inside, which complements the theme of the décor — fluidity. While two of the walls represent the Northern and Southern hemispheres — an effect created by the use of flickering lights — the third wall is a glass curtain, and the fourth is a wooden wall with display panels for artwork. The credit for the décor goes to Viren Wakloo, principal architect of Matra Architects.

Guests are also treated to live music played by a band. On Tuesdays (known as Tully Tuesday) the happy hours begin at 8 p.m.

As you settle down, a waiter greets you with a warm smile. The menu is so extensive that it can quite confuse you — from aperitifs to branded scotch to vodka and cognac, it's all there. We ordered our scotch and pina colada and allowed the soothing décor to take over. Next we turned our attention to the food — which the Fox is famous for, and found a menu for its one-world cuisine. "The food evolves in tandem with our chef's passion, dissolving all perceivable boundaries between cuisines... . and varied textures and colours paint a vivid picture on your plate and the taste leaves an indelible mark on your palate," says Head Chef Sanjeev Takyar.

Once you are through with the drinks or starters, you can move on to the main course and take your pick from a menu that features delectable fare from all over the world. You could pamper your palate with a Thai delicacy in the first course and then dig into continental delights in the next.

Among the continental non-veg, Zurich chicken and lamb burgundy were my favourites. Chicken Adobo, an Indonesian delicacy, could be another dish worth trying. Coming to the dessert — whether it is the decadence of dark chocolate or litchi coupe or shahi tukra, you have it all here.

A pretty good place to visit (none / 0) (#12)

I was a bit concerned about this place after reading all these reviews - esp about their quality of service.

Contrary to expectations, the service was exceptionally good. We never had to wait for the waiters even once. Perhaps they have improved over time.

And yes, the food was pretty good. All in all, I would consider this to be a good place and not too heavy on the wallet - considering the food and the variety, the ambiance and the fact that this is 2007 !

According to me fox has been the best restaurant in gurgaon for last six yrs. Mr. Bhalla had upkeep their restaurant and service to the standard but i think they have changed their chef as food is becoming horrible day by day. few days back when i had ran and some other kabas which can only compare with road side dhaba . if i go to Fox again i will go only for the music and drink.

I have been to THE FOX at least a dozen times now, and the food is good! The ambience was nice and novel when it first opened. Sometimes on weekdays one does come across people who just treat it like a mere bar... but on the whole the music is nice...sometimes repetitive for those who have been there many more times than the rest. I consider myself quite a connoisseur of food on the whole. They have a good mix of Indian, Continental and Oriental. I have tried all the three broad streams and highly recommend the Indian...(very few places in Gurgaon have good Indian food at a decent prices) more than the money its the quality of food... and the taste.. the Makhani Daal is exceptional...can be considered closest to the Daal Bukhara... and the Honey Chicken Dry is a must try for those fond of Chinese/Oriental and have a spicy tooth. They also have some nice crepes. The price is competitive on the whole Rs.700-800/per head inclusive of a drink and dessert. Do try THE FOX!!! Highly Recommended! - The Food Connoisseur!

I've been to Fox about 6-7 times, mostly because it's near where I live. The food isn't bad, but for the price it better be.  I agree that the staff is the worst part of this place.  It's impossible to get their attention, and the times when I actually got up and flagged them down at the bar they rudely told me to sit down and wait.  I also don't think the "live" music is that good...bad karaoke pop songs doesn't strike me as classy.

I would Choose Fox over any other restaurant  for their food, ambience and great service.
I picked a few dishes from the menu randomly and they were all very good. I enjoy good food and wine, I would recommend it highly.

As someone has said before, looks like the review has been posted by the owner. The ambience of the restaurant is very good and the food quality is also excellent but where the restaurant sorely lacks is the service. Woe begins as soon as u enter, there is no one to seat you and once seated be prepared to endure the third rate service by the laziest and most discourteous staff you can find in any restaurant. This has been my experience not once but twice.

I have visted fox twice and I found it to be nice. Maybe not great but not bad either. THe decor was comfortable seating was good the people and I beg to differ to say the staff was NOT rude. And please I am not the owner lol I wish I was the owner of some nice lounge would be raking in money like those ppl. If you want to see bad service go to ansal plaza geofreys, used to be amazing , became awful . That last time I visited that place remember abotu it and thinking how nice it used to be I was shocked to find not only flies and ants walking on my table but the staff was RUDE.

Tonino was nice but the food was to either to authentic to be relished by an Indian who likes Indianised Italian, or it just plain sucked. The pasta was still good was the pizza , unpalatable.

Rodeo in Gurgaon was nice , but dont expect something amazing. Its nice and cool food is good and somewhat reasonable but the day I went the DJ was playing such load "dhik chak" music I had to request the waiter twice to ask him to bring his volume down.

I can put in lot more restaurants but ehh we were talking about FOX.

Had been to Fox quite a few times on office expenses.
The food is good. You have varieties to choose.Haryala Kabab is worth mention.

Though fox would suit heavy pockets only.
but do not go their in hurry they take good time to serve you...
