Coriander Leaf is more than a routine food corner. It is a place that offers good food on the platter, with a noble sentiment in the heart. This three-month-old restaurant is perhaps the first to offer a blend of Indian and Pakistani cuisine, striving to bring together two nations wounded at the hands of history. Situated in Gurgaon's Vatika City, Coriander Leaf is all set to win hearts and customers alike from the East and the West side of the Line Of Control.
And the place is already pulling in the crowd with people simply drooling over the quenchers like the popular aam panna besides of course, a wide range of wines and cocktails. The menu is a compilation of rare and traditional recipes, including a wide range of non-vegetarian dishes. Take for instance, the kachhe gosht ki biryani (prepared with raw papaya), the traditional haleem nahari and the pathani heeng kabab and machchi ka saalan.
Chef Sanjeev Takyar says the Pakistani dishes hail from the hearths of Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore and Sialkot, while the Indian dishes are a collection from various royal kitchens, mainly from Hyderabad, Lucknow and Kashmir. The chef says, "All the spices have been imported from Pakistan. The methods of preparation are an amalgam of Pakistani recipes and our own creativity. We aim to bring back that authenticity, that same taste once again to our land."
The right ambience
To add to the charm, the interiors of Coriander Leaf create the right ambience. The glasshouse look of the place coupled with the lighting and the sound of gushing water adds to its grandeur. According to Manager Vineet, Coriander Leaf "is an effort to provide authentic recipes from North India and Pakistan with good service to build an everlasting bond."
