With the Gurgaon Metro project kicking off, the Haryana Government and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation are leaving no stone unturned to avoid any delay in the project.
Work on the metro route started from December 1, as per the agreement, and illegal gantries, hoardings, banners and other encroachments on the MG road, Gurgaon were removed today. The action came in the wake of a Supreme Court order cancelling the stay on the gantries, hoardings, banners put up by a number of private companies on the MG road.
"The metro being elevated, the gantries, hoardings, banners had to be done away with," said SP Gupta, Administrator HUDA. Further, signages of metro stations to come up in Gurgaon were put up days after the metro agreement was signed this November between the DMRC and Town and Country Planning Department, Haryana. The first installment of Rs 167.25 crore for the Gurgaon Metro was released on November 24,2006.
"The DMRC has started the groundwork for the project in the city," said Daljit Singh, Chief Project Manager, DMRC. "Utilities identification, widening of roads has already begun," added Singh.
"Transferring of acquired land from Haryana Urban Development Authority to the DMRC has also commenced".
