Sriram School is the best (none / 0) (#24)
by sparsh88 on Tue Jan 15, 2008 at 08:45:25 AM EST

Sriram School is certainly the best school . I have been struggling for the last four years to put my son there but its so tough to get !! every year religiously i buy a form and fill in his details and am yet to see a response. I have met all the principals one after another and its the same old story - we will get back as soon as there is a vacancy .. I see hordes of other kids getting admission but fail to understand - how do they manage to do that. I write a mail almost every month, call them up , try meeting the principal . I need some sincere advice ."How on Earth one gets admission to this fantastic School ???

hi
i would surely like to share with u some experiences about the school both as a parent as well as an ex teacher of the school.
please confirm the curriculum the school is following meaning which board are they following. u would be in all probability told ICSC but that is only from grade 6 in the nursery they follow the PRIMARY YEARS PROGRAM of the IB which does not get recognized in the country.if u would like to schift ur child later to a different school it would be extremely tough to adjust to the indian board.
besidesAN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE school.anyhging else feel free to ask

I admiited my two kids in Scottish high last year and I think all I got was just promises , their curriculum and teaching style is a traditional one ............it can be categorised as a DPS with an AC ....I have finally withdrawan this year and have put them at Excelsior American School ...though had to cough up a large amount but had interacted with some kids of the same class and could feel the difference in their teaching style......the confidence level of the children was amazing.......I hope i have done the correct thing ........but so far have visited the school several times and am each time amazed .

Amadeus High School (none / 0) (#17)
by Unregistered Visitors on Wed Nov 08, 2006 at 07:43:50 AM EST

Thanks for putting the link on Amadeus on this site. I can confirm that its a good school with 360 degree approach to develop kids.

Early this year when we were looking for a school, we heard about Amadeus and the experience so far has been great. Excellent teachers and a robust curriculum, very different and creative. most of the books are best from the international collection, you have to see it to believe it.

One thing which the Amadeus guys don't know very well is the marketing of school..they are far behind in this as compared to Scottish High and Excelsior (in a way its good that they don't blow away parents money like this ). That's why I think they don't have too many students in the school.

The good side of less expenditure on marketing is the lower fees structure as compared to other schools despite paying a very handsome salary to teachers and providing good books, an excellent library (my kids bring home a new book from library almost everyday class KG and 1), computers in all class rooms , dance classes ( things like Salsa), music, skating coaching,FRENCH classes for kids in KG (I have heard Excelsior claims foreign language classes on their Internet site but they don't have any teacher of foreign languages till now), outside visits....etc long list .

I hope this will help you in making some decision (if you are not very confused by now)
thanks

This remark seems to come straight from the marketing people at Amadeus school ,,,,it seems ...well I am in Delhi ....a software engineer and happen to go to this site........its quite interesting to note how one school is trying to talk about other schools.......and admissions it seems in all these schools are easy ........in Delhi parents are not getting admissions......well my search made me visit these schools as I develop software for schools in Delhi...I think its pretty unhealthy in Gurgaon..........

My child is in Amadeus High and i can vouch for their vision and the values that they are instilling in the children.Do you know that they urge parents to keep birthday celebrations simple and celebrate it by sharing with the children of the poor school that they have been running;my child has two teachers in a class of 20 students;yes their marketing is not as good as other schools but atleast my child is benefitting;
must say children these days are very lucky what with so many choices!

Scottish High International School Gurgaon (none / 0) (#11)
by Unregistered Visitors on Mon Sep 18, 2006 at 10:27:09 PM EST

I am a very satisfied parent at Scottish & having lived in major metros & studied in well-known educational establishments in India & in the US I can say two things
a) Scottish provides quality, personalized education. This comes at a cost so hence the fees are fully justifiable given the excellent quality of faculty, & facilities (bathrooms that are clean, Airconditioners fully functional, buses that are safe, snacks that are hygienically prepared- (regular pest-control,no flies in the cafeteria etc)
b) Exclusivity does not come from rejecting students. Is it not every child's birthright to attend a good school? Why criticize a school which admits children because there are available seats?

I have taken out my kid from DPS,  and put her in Scottish high. I can see the difference in 4 months. In DPS, the class strength was 40 children and the teachers were just bothered about finishing the syllabus. A totally Lala school. Now I am quite satisfied with Scottish High. A complete education and my child is learning every day.

DPS vs Scottish High (none / 0) (#7)
by Meghna on Wed Sep 13, 2006 at 05:27:20 AM EST

Hi this is Meghna,

My daughter's got thru' Scottish High. We were very impressed with our interaction (which was fairly detailed) with the Chairman, Mr Saini. My elder child is in DPS and yes, the admission fee is the same in both schools but monthly in Scottish is double or more. Since its a day boarding and centrally AC.
Regards.

Hi all,
Does anyone know the approx. annual fees for the following schools? I have found this schools only through the internet and theor websites do not mention a lot about the fees/admission process for higher grades. How easy is it to get the admission to 2nd and 7th grade early next year?

I may call the school phone numbers, but any color on this process would be helpful.

Thanks.

We plan to relocate to India around the same time.
I checked out with the British school and Pathways and my rough estimate is between 12-20k INR for these at the primary school level.
There is an upfront fee of nearly 3 Lacs on admission.
Would like to hear what you find out.

Fee at Scottish High (none / 0) (#4)
by Rishi on Mon Sep 11, 2006 at 11:29:50 PM EST

The total fees without school transport for Nursery admission for next academic year (2007-8) is Rs. 1.08 lakhs (including a refundable caution money) of Rs.20K. This is among the more expensive schools in Gurgaon and much more expensive than many other established schools like Sriram, Heritage, Shikshantar, DPS & Amity. Also, promoted by business people with no previous experience in Academia, I am sceptical about this school. You can walk into the school and get admission the day you want (even mid-term) - they need parents who can cough up this huge amount for "quality" education. And what about hikes in the future when they have locked you in? No past records to show their attitude. God bless all of you.

Scottish High School (none / 0) (#1)
by Unregistered Visitors on Tue Sep 05, 2006 at 08:01:07 PM EST

Facing the same problem - Sriram and Heritage have closed admission, I got my kids admitted to Scottish High.

Mind you since then, the principal (mustafi - who i hear, built his reputation from a convent school in shimla, has moved into executive position) has changed to one from Ryan International, who has a reputation of frequent fee hikes / extracting money in all ways (some links in google groups for NRI's should provide you more details)

We checked out a few other schools including DPS which seemed ok, but the approach / professionalism of the 20cr school seemed better... Do check out amity school also.

About Scottish School A Rs 20-cr school at Gurgaon

Kartikay Saini spent 15 years in the Indian Navy where he worked as training commander for IT training and as joint director, Foreign Defence Procurement. In 1997, he received the CNS (Chief of Naval Staff) commendation medal.

But a few years later, when his family business, the Hema Group, acquired Tobu Cycles, Saini became actively involved with the business. Under his leadership, Tobu saw vast product diversification in the next two years, and Saini got the impetus to start a dream project of his own -- a day boarding school that would focus on personality development.

The result is Scottish High, a Rs 20-crore project in Gurgaon, which will open in April 2005.

"I grew up in Ludhiana and did my schooling at the Sacred Heart Convent there. Then, at the age of 16, I joined the National Defence Academy in Pune where I did my engineering; subsequently, I joined the Indian Navy.

"I spent 15 years in the defence service and worked in the fields of engineering, logistics, information technology, foreign procurement and training. During my tenure, I helped with the design and development of online inventory management systems for the naval fleet, as well as designing ERP systems for the Navy.

"My family had its own business in Ludhiana, manufacturing auto parts. The business operations were shifted to Delhi in 1986 under the name Hema Group, and we became an OEM for leading two-wheeler and four-wheeler companies. Initially, I didn't have much to do with the family business, but a little over two years ago we diversified into children's products and that's when I became actively involved with it.

"We took over Tobu India around this time and started to redefine it. At that time it was only into the manufacture of children's cycles, but over the past two years we have diversified into 56 other products -- from walkies to cots.

"With the acquisition of Tobu, the group had started moving towards the children's segment in a sense. Now I wanted to take that further. I envisioned an institute that would provide comprehensive education, focusing not just on academic excellence but holistic development of mind, body and spirit. Thus the idea for Scottish High germinated.

"We got started on a project plan immediately -- research was done with the help of the Indian Institute of Industrial Research -- and there was plenty of brainstorming before work got underway. We wanted to be sure of our focus, which is to build a personality rather than a person. In keeping with that USP, the school motto is "Interrogo Percipio Adicio", meaning "Question, Understand and Apply".

"This will be an integrated school in the truest sense -- for instance, we don't believe in separate sections for special children; they will study in the same classroom as the others and the teachers will have instructions to consider their needs. We are very particular about our staff -- the student-teacher ratio will be 12:1. Milkha Singh has endorsed our sports programme and J J Valaya's studio has designed the school uniform. Even our furniture has been designed on the advice of a psychologist.

"The building is located over a 5-acre area in Gurgaon and our first session will begin in April 2005. This is going to be a day boarding school -- we have mapped out a programme wherein the child will be at school between 8 am and 5.30 pm. With such a schedule, we have to ensure they spend quality time at home; so no written homework will be assigned.
"Naturally, no expense is being spared. But on the flip side, Tobu Cycles is growing by leaps and bounds too. The company's turnover is around Rs 8 crore (Rs 80 million) and we are targeting Rs 16 crore (Rs 160 million) this year -- a 100 per cent growth.

You need to get your facts right first (none / 0) (#5)
by Rishi on Mon Sep 11, 2006 at 11:33:50 PM EST

Please note that admission forms for Heritage School is available now (11-16 September) and SriRam School will issue forms in October. I suspect this individual is connected to the promoters of this school otherwise why would he attach a favourable news media article planted by them for a few lakhs that appeared in 2004!!! Where are the actual parents who have got their wards admitted to the school in the past year and what is their experience?
