As the countdown for the Gurgaon expressway gets underway, the construction company has removed the lone traffic signal at the Hero Honda crossing. The absence of this red light translates into high-speed mobility for Delhi Gurgaon commuters.
Locals, however, will have a tough time getting across the expressway because of the 10 kilometre detour they will now have to take. Earlier, local traffic from sector 33 and 34 used this signaled crossing for getting to the other side. Pedestrians and two wheelers will be able to cross easily through two underpasses on either side of the crossing.
The concessionaire company DS Constructions (DSC) has provisioned for a u-turn near its toll plaza at 42nd milestone as well as under the Rajiv Chowk flyover The first u-turn near the toll plaza towards Jaipur side is at a distance of about five km from Hero Honda Crossing on one side while another under Rajiv Chowk flyover is about one and an half km far on one side.
H.S. Kohli the DSC director said the detours were already planned on the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway "We need to give signal- free travel experience to commuters. Our officials have already met the local administration and have conveyed the diversion plan. It is now up to the local administration to manage the detours and diversions," Kohli said.
Meanwhile, the proposed underpass at the Hero Honda crossing - meant for avoiding long detours - has been delayed for more than two years. The work has not begun yet and would take 18-24 months to complete.
