While the expressway has brought Gurgaon closer to Delhi, a day after its formal inauguaration, the 27.7km smooth drive was interrupted by minor traffic disruptions at a few points as many commuters failed to follow the signages.

As several cars and buses tried to change direction on the middle of RTRPalam flyover, this led to traffic snarls during both morning and evening peak hours. The traffic cops later posted
m a r s h a l s holding placards at busy l o c at i o n s, such as the diversion towards domestic airport and Gurgaon, which helped in clearing up the congestion to some extent.
``We have even put highway patrolling vehicles at this crossing round-theclock in three shifts, where we are using public address systems to guide people. But we fail to understand why they can't read those huge indicators and signages,'' said a corridor manager, supervising the traffic flow on RTR-Palam flyover, on Thursday evening.
Though marshals tried to stop slow-moving traffic from taking the main expressway, two-wheelers and three-wheelers managed to climb on to the flyovers and added to the chaos. However, the journey up to Kherki-Dhaula toll plaza was smooth on Thursday. Barring a few disruptions at RTR-Palam and MCD toll tax booth, the ride was smooth for commuters, though pedestrians struggled to cross the road.
A spokesperson for DS Constructions said toll will be charged from Friday, 9 pm onwards. Already, over 10,000 motorists have registered for concession, monthly passes and smart tags. ``About 30% of commuters have gone for smart tags as this gives them the facility to cross the toll plazas without stopping. We hope more commuters will register for this facility as this would reduce the waiting period at toll plazas,'' the spokesperson added.
