Construction work of the ESI Hospital in Gurgaon started last week after a long wait of more than seven years. On completion, this will be the first ESI Hospital in Gurgaon and the sixth in Haryana. The hospital complex will be spread over 5 acres that had been acquired in 1998 from the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) at a cost of Rs 4.36 crore. The hospital is conceived to be a 200-bed multi-speciality model hospital with adequate provision for expansion. The project cost for the construction of the hospital is estimated to be Rs 15 crore, whereas the cost of equipping the hospital with modern diagnostic gadgets and equipment is estimated to cost yet another Rs 10 crore.
The hospital will have specialist service facilities for cardiology with an intensive care unit (ICU), radio diagnostic services, including CAT scan, a blood bank and a modern laboratory besides departments of gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedies, ENT and ophthalmology
Specifications for the construction of the hospital will match the surrounding corporate habitat in and around Gurgaon with a built-up area of 10,000 sq m, an ESI release said.
As of now, the Gurgaon-Rewari belt has got a huge ESIbeneficiary population of around 4 lakh for whom the primary medical services are provided through a network of seven dispensaries. The multi-speciality hospital will bring the secondary medical services nearer to the doorstep of the workers and their dependants.
