The Mile-Long stretch of malls in Gurgaon wore a deserted look on Tuesday, with traders observing the mandatory Tuesday holiday The only exceptions were essential commodity shops such as eateries and also the multiplexes.
One hundred and fifteen retailers, including Big Bazaar; Vishal Mega Mart, Reliance Fresh and others were fined by the administration for not following the government directive, the Gurgaon District Magistrate said.

In a notification issued on February 27, the Haryana Government had ordered that all retailers in Gurgaon town shut their shops on Tuesdays.
Earlier, malls and other market places in New Gurgaon would open all seven days a week, while shops in the old town would remain closed on Sundays.
The notification, however, allowed retailers to open all seven days a week if they got an exemption under section 9/10 of the Punjab Shops & Commercial Establishment Act. As of now, only Lifestyle stores in DLF City Center Mall, MG Road has the required exemption from the closure orders of Tuesdays, Haryana Labour Commissioner N.C. Wadhawa said.
