Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the Delhi Fire Service's (DFS) online fire report system that would facilitate Delhittes to obtain reports on the Internet on Sunday .
The inauguration was done during the Delhi Fire Service's Raising Day ceremony at the Fire Safety Management Academy in Rohini.
Dikshit was the chief guest and she presented the Fire Services Flag to the organisation.
The new facility on the DFS website allows a person to access a fire report online wit hout going through the cumbersome procedure of submitting a request and depositing fees, said fire officials.
The ceremony was marked by a colourful parade and a lively demonstration where firemen carried out several drills demonstrating their capabilities.
On the occasion, Dikshit gave away the fire services medal for distinguished service as well as the meritorious service award to nine officers, as announced by President Pratibha Patil on the eve of the Republic Day .
Delhi's fire chief, R.C. Sharma and Divisional Officer Sudhir Madhukar Rishi (retired) received the President's Fire Service Medal for distinguished services.
