UP's CNG buses in Haryana, Delhi soon
The woes of daily commuters using buses in the National Capital Region could be solved soon. A new transport model for the whole region is in the pipeline.
After three rounds of meetings between transport ministries of UP, Haryana and Delhi, officials from the three states will finalise a unified model for NCR on April 11.
And if things turn out as expected,officialssaid,the model will go alongway in solving the woes of commuters.
Sandeep Raizada, regional manager of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), said: "The decision on a unified model has been under discussion fora long time and we are hoping to get it approved and to push it on the floor soon." Along with a major plan to develop the UPSRTC bus station in Sector-35 into a world-class station, officials are planning to run the newly acquired CNG buses on various Delhi routes.
Buses to Faridabad and Gurgaon, officials said, are also in the offing.
UPSRTC intends to run buses on nine new routes, apart from existing routes in Delhi, including buses to IGI Airport, Shahdara, Nehru Place and CGO complex. Its buses are presently plying on routes to New Delhi Railway Station, ISBT Kashmere Gate and Shivaji Stadium.
