The proposed site falls in the air-funnel zone of the airport and we have to follow the height restrictions. We have asked au- thorities to give us the exact height limit we can go up to. SANJEEV SAHAI, Managing Director, DIMTS
Dwarka will soon have an "international standard" interstate bus terminal with a hotel, commercial space and a huge underground parking facility for cars. The government will soon call request for qualifica- tion (RFQ) from private players to develop it on Public Private Participation (PPP).
"We will advertise the RFQ in a day or two. The concessionaire will get the project on Build-OperateTransfer (BOT) basis for 40 years. The ISBT has to be constructed and made operational before 2010 commonwealth games," Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Limited managing director Sanjeev Sahai said.
Meanwhile, DIMTS, the agency given the responsibility to remodel the three existing ISBTs at Kashmere Gate, Sarai Kale Khan and Anand Vihar and construct two new ISBTS at Dwarka and Narela, has also written to the airport authorities to clear the Dwarka ISBT project.
"The proposed site for ISBT falls in the air-funnel zone of the airport and we have to follow the height restrictions. We have asked the airport authorities to give us the exact height limit we can go up to," said Sahai. To come up on a 10hectare plot in sector 22 of Dwarka, the ISBT is expected to cost about Rs 300 crores. Apart from bus bays for interstate buses, the ISBT wi11also have a hotel, under-ground parking lot, rest room for drivers as well as for passengers.
While construction of Dwarka ISBT and remodelling of the three existing ISBTs will be completed before 2010, the ISBT at Narela might have to wait. Officials said the investors may not found Narela project commercially viable due to its location.
