The Delhi-Gurgaon expressway may have given a smooth ride to motorists travelling between the two cities, it has added to chaos on feeder roads. Heavy volume of traffic piling up on outer Ring Road and connecting roads result in long traffic snarlups throughout the day.
Large volume of traffic heading to central Delhi often takes a right turn on outer Ring Road and then a left on Rao Tula Ram (RTR) Marg to reach Moti Bagh and Shantipath. The ongoing construction of a flyover on outer Ring Road - RTR Marg T-point has narrowed down the stretch and reduces the speed of traffic causing long vehicular pile up.
People living in residential colonies in the vicinity like Westend, Shanti Niketan and Vasant Vihar complained that load on this stretch of road has increased ever since the expressway was thrown open three months ago. The T-point, they added remain choked at all hours.

"The traffic police have put up huge signboards on Ring Road advising motorists coming from central Delhi side to take Dhaula Kuan Road to go to Dwarka, airport and Gurgaon. That is the reason why there is not much pressure of vehicles reaching RTR Marg - Outer Ring Road Tpoint. However there are fewer such boards on the expressway advising motorists to take Dhaula Kuan route to reach central Delhi and traffic running on expressway discharges on RTR Marg," said V.N.Dalmiya, a Westend resident.
Motorists complain that it now takes them at least 30 minutes to cross that small stretch. "The Outer Ring Road-Rao Tula Ram Marg T-point is the most stressed point as motorists from various south Delhi colonies as well as central Delhi heading to Gurgaon, Palam and Dwarka use this road. Apart from constructing a flyover: which is already on, road should also be widened to accommodate such huge flow of vehicles," said R.K.Jain, a Vasant Vihar resident.
