For the second consecutive day, residents of DLF Phase-III protested against the water shortage. On Monday, the protest, led by around 100 housewives and working women, began around 8.30 am and continued for about an hour.
Elsewhere in west and south Gurgaon, residents of posh Sushant Lok and the semi-urban Sainipura too continued to suffer due to poor water supply.
Angry residents of DLF Phase-III marched to the local office of the DLF Service in-charge and demanded immediate restoration of water.
``When we had blocked the DLF office yesterday, we were promised that tankers would be sent to us at the earliest as an interim relief. They have sent in a few tankers but they are not enough to meet the demand. The water quality too is bad. We cannot even use it for rinsing our mouth,'' said Sunil Soni, an investment banker, a resident of U-61, Phase-III.
Added Renu, a housewife: ``We have to get up early in the morning since last April and line up for the day. Once, the water tanker arrives, neighbours rush to get the maximum share of the water. We have been staying together for the past ten years, but the camaraderie we share between us is now at its lowest.''
A senior DLF official claimed that there was no shortage of water. ``It is only the bickering among the residents for the maximum share of the water that has led to this problem,'' he said.
The administration, however, refute all charges. ``There is no problem in the distribution of water in Gurgaon,'' said Rakesh Gupta, deputy commissioner of Gurgaon.
