The urban development authority of the state might be maintaining that it has been making all possible efforts to improve the condition of the city. Yet the dismal state of most of the HUDA sectors makes such tall claims fall flat. The state of Sector 10 is no exception to the existing scenario.
Despite it being one of the oldest and most sought after sectors, Sector 10 has failed to attract the attention of district authorities. Residents allege that HUDA authorities have been giving a step motherly treatment to the area. Mucky water overflowing through the sewer lines and manhole covers is a common sight here. "Foul smell here has been affecting us. With the mosquito breeding season there could be more problems in store if the authorities don't take corrective measures," feared Kamlesh Sharma, an affected a resident of Sector 10.
The area RWA representatives have also raised concern over the matter with HUDA Administrator Shrikant Walgad, but no concrete action has been initiated till now. When HUDA officials were contacted they said that clearing of choked sewers is done whenever anything is reported by the field officials or residents. While HUDA authorities do the cover up act, situation here remains dismal. There remains a wide gap between what the HUDA authorities promise and in what exists on the ground.
