The Haryana Roadways bus stand in Gurgaon is a classic example of a town that is polished from outside and left to rot from inside.
A comparative study can be done between the bus stand and the mall road. The latter resembles a town with state-of the-art facilities and neat surroundings including highrise buildings with the latest designs. While the premises outside the bus stand have nothing to boast about.
The road outside the bus stand is narrow and to filrther decrease the breadth, a divider has been constructed in the middle of the road. The divider does not solve the purpose as it is broken at many places and cyclerickshaw pullers use it as a shortcut.
On both the sides of the road, one can see fruit and vegetable vendors, sugarcane crushers and cyclerickshaws.
The buses do not have enough space to move smoothly as the road is narrow and is further encroached upon.

Due to lack of proper planning and infrastructure, the trolleys of vendors cover half the road and the people who come to buy vegetables also park their vehicles at the same spot.
In the evening, small tubelights of different colours can be seen on the trolleys that help the buyer to select the fruit and vegetable of choice.
Though streetlights have been provided in the area and are installed on the dividet: most of them do not work and many are in a position to fall.
"If the tubelights had been working properly, I would not have had installed this small tubelight on my trolley This adds to my expenses," says Bir Pal Singh, a fruit vendor outside the bus stand.
Though the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has already started its action on the water and the sugarcane crushers, the Haryana Government has not even thought of saving its people from the water-borne diseases due to these crushers.
The condition inside the bus stand is also not appreciable. There are not enough seating arrangements for the commuters and not enough lights to brighten up the evening. There is no schedule of buses hanging in the bus stand premises.
