According to senior tourism department officials, the Government of India has allocated an amount of Rs 14 crore to the Haryana Government for the development of eco-tourism in Haryana. Jakati said Rs 6.48 crore had been sanctioned for Kalesar Jungles, Morni Hills, Tikkar Taal and Sultanpur National Park. "Approximately Rs 7 crore had also been sanctioned for the upgradation of the Dabchik tourist resort at Hodal and Babler jungles at Dharuhera keeping in view the Commonwealth Games," the officials said.
The tourism officials said that this was for the first time that the forest departments assistance was sought for developing eco-tourism in the state. "We have a patch of land lying right in front of the Sultanpur National Park where we will build log cottages surrounded by greenery. We have plans to construct four-feet-high bird-watch towers as the place is already a destination for migratory birds that flock the place in large numbers every year," the officials said. Another major attraction at Sultanpur will be the hi-tech e-library that will have a collection of national and international documentary films on nature, birds and animals. According to tourism department officials, around 10, 000 rooms will be required for the Games. Around 9,650 rooms were ready and the Haryana Tourism would complete the target, they said. They said around 42 sites had been identified by the land development agencies for the Games. Source:Sanjeev K Ahuja Fron Hindustan Times 09/Jun/2008
