IN A bid to generate more revenue, the Municipal Corporation of Faridabad (MCF) has revised the licence fee for commercial establishments under its jurisdiction.
MCF has started sending notices to shopping malls, hotels, banquet halls, automobile showrooms and nursing homes to shell out more towards licence fee.
The MCF House had passed a resolution to this effect in a meeting held on December 20, 2007. Earlier there was no provision for licence fee on some trades and, wherever it was applicable, it was nominal.
Earlier, there was no licence fee for shops, showrooms in multiplexes. However, keeping in view the brisk business these outlets do, MCF decided to impose a licence fee on them.
The licence fee for air-conditioned showrooms in shopping malls will vary between Rs 5,000 and Rs 50,000 depending on the plinth area.
For non-air-conditioned showrooms it will range from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000.
The fee for hotels/lodges has been revised from Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 per annum for an air-conditioned room and Rs 500 for non air-conditioned room.
The licence fee for an air-conditioned banquet hall and marriage place varies from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh per annum. For similar non-AC places, the fee will range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000. The fee before revision was Rs 1,200 per annum for both.
Private nursing homes will also have to pay more licence fee depending on its capacity The owner of a 30-bed nursing home owner will have to pay Rs 5,000 per annum as against the earlier licence fee of Rs 1,200.
Hospitals with more than 30 beds will now have to pay Rs 10,000.
The fee for showroom/agency for jeep, truck and cars has been raised from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,00,000 and that of two/three wheelers from Rs 600 to Rs 20,000 per annum.
However, showrooms for vehicles that run on non-conventional fuel are likely to be exempted from the enhanced licence fee
