Old Gurgaon Road suffers due to neglect Old Gurgaon Road (if you are a Delhiite) or the Old Delhi Road (if you live in Gurgaon), that passes through Kapashera border, has been an important link to Delhi for a long time.
Even after the Delhi-Gurgaon Express Highway came up (with its baggage of problems and toll tax), Old Gurgaon Road continues to cater to the heavy traffic between Delhi and Gurgaon. But it is becoming increasingly difficult to drive on the road because of the apparent lack of attention of the administration.

The Old Gurgaon Road caters to heavy commercial vehicles, cars, DTC buses (including low floor buses) and State Transport buses.
The entire stretch of road under the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) is full of potholes, crammed with parked trucks and stray cattle.
Besides, there is unruly pedestrian movement. The result is daily traffic congestion and jams.
"I have been using the Old Gurgaon Road to reach my Vikaspuri office for the last 10 years. I switched over to the Ex pressway recently as the condition of the road has become very poor. I would still prefer to use it if it is im proved," says Ratan Seth, a resident of Sector 7 Exten- sion, who runs a second hand car business in Vikaspuri, Delhi.
It seems repair of the road is low on the priority list of the Haryana Urban Development Authority.
"In 1997, the HUDA had a plan to improve the Old Gurgaon Road but it never started. Maruti Udyog, that is located next to the road, improved a part of the road on its own expense some time back.
"Recently, there was a plan to construct a pedestrian overbridge as well, but nothing has yet been done yet," says Sanjeev Bhargav, from the Sector 7 RWA.
The road does not fall under the category of National or State Highway but still it is a vital link.
"There is a plan to widen and improve the Old Gurgaon Road. But it will take some time. We carry out routine repair work on the road and a year back, a stretch was improved. The repair work will start once the rains stop," says a senior HUDA official.
