WIDENING OF the Gurgaon-Jaipur Expressway from the existing four lanes to six lanes will start by December end or early January This is . expected to make the stretch between Delhi and Jaipur signal-free.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has said that, by then, it will have completed the land acquisition process for the proposed project.
In fact, 77 per cent of the land has already been acquired.
The concessionaire company Pink City Expressway Private Limited (PCEPL) has started preparing the final blueprint. Lewis Burger Group is preparing a detailed project report.
The 225.60 km expressway, expected to be completed by June 2011, will have 38 pedestrian underpasses in addition to 43 mini bridges for local residents. There will be 44 flyovers and 70 entry/exit points for commuters. This toll road will have service lanes on both the sides.
The agreement for this project was signed on June 6 between NHAI and the private developers - a consortium of Emirates Trading Agency of UAE and Delhi-based KMC Constructions Limited.
The project that is part of NHDPPhase V has been awarded on BOTToll basis on the design-build-operate-finance basis.
The stretch covers 42 km in Gurgaon and 65 km in Haryana with the remaining length running into Rajasthan.
The expressway will have three toll plazas beyond Gurgaon. But the exact location of the plazas would be known later.
NHAI officials said the total cost of the project is Rs 1896.25 crore.
The concession period of the project is 12 years, which includes twoand-a-half years of construction period.
