The allotment process of flats in 58 cooperative group housing societies (CGHS) which were given a clean chit by the CBI in the housing scam, is likely to begin soon, the Registrar Co-operative Society (RCS) on Monday informed Delhi High Court.
The RCS said his office planned to put out advertisements inviting bonafide members of the 58 housing societies to contact it for starting the allotment process. Appearing for RCS, the lawyer told a division Bench headed by justice Manmohan Sarin that it would also invite objections from the housing societies, if they have any, towards initiating the allotment process. For verification of the identity of the original members of these societies, the members would be advised to either contact the RCS or their respective societies, the court was told.
Seeking three months' time, the counsel said the RCS would take a final decision for allotment of flats after obtaining objections from societies. HC is yet to give nod to the proposal. However, the amicus curiae and the members of a committee set up to formulate modalities for allotment, have accepted the proposal.
Earlier, the Registrar had stated that it faced difficulty in verification of the original members of various group housing societies as many of them have now shifted their residences or changed their contact addresses. Some housing societies, mostly in Dwarka area, are under the Court's scanner following an expose of the housing scam in the city involving a former RCS Registrar N Diwakar in 2005.
