For all environment friendly denizens, who have got a CNG operated vehicle to save the environment and cut down on running cost, coming of CNG pumps in the city brought some good news. But even before one could rejoice, the pressure is all out of CNG.
The very moment Gurgoanites realised they will have to shell out additional Rs 9 for getting CNG refilled in the city, the joy of the same has mellowed down. The gas is available at Rs 27.50 per kg which is almost Rs 9 per kilogram higher as compared to the neighbouring cities of Delhi and Noida, where the rate of CNG is Rs 18.90 and Rs 23 per kilogram respectively.
The supply and distribution of CNG in Gurgaon has been started by the Haryana City Gas Distribution Company. To start with, the company will be supplying the gas through its filling stations in Sector 29 and Sector 53. The move will help thousands of CNG operated vehicle owners who had been coming to Delhi to get their vehicles refilled. But such vehicle owners still feel that such pricing will play a deterrent for vehicle owners in the city.

Officials of the distribution company maintain that pricing has been increased due to operational expenses and higher purchase price of CNG. They said, if transportation of gas was through pipelines then the supply cost would have been lesser. But for now, the company is transporting the gas through mobile cascades, till the time pipelines are permitted and laid by GAIL.
The problem doesn't end here for owners of all CNG operated vehicles, because the Haryana City Gas Distribution Company will be supplying gas to three and four wheelers at these stations. Heavy commercial vehicles will not be allowed refilling for some time due to limited supply of gas. Unlike other cities, supply of CNG will only be available at the outlets between 6 am to 10 pm everyday.
