Assessees can now file their returns electronically.
Elaborate arrangements made at IT offices.
With July 31 being the last date for filing Income Tax returns for salaried and non-corporate assessees whose accounts are not required to be audited, the Income Tax Department in the Capital has made several arrangements to deal with the large influx of returns expected to be filed in the upcoming week.
A release issued by Additional Commissioner of Income Tax Mona Mohanty said Income Tax assessees now have the option of filing their returns electronically, thus making it convenient and hassle-free for them. Only an IT Return Verification Form (ITR-V) needs to be deposited in the Income Tax Office within 15 days of e-filing in cases where there is no digital signature in such returns electronically filed.
For those who still prefer the manual option at the main Income Tax offices situated at ITO, Vikas Bhavan and Mayur Bhavan, elaborate arrangements have been made for facilitating receipt of returns.
