One village from each district to be chosen for allotting plots Hooda criticises Chautala regime for not fulfilling promises made to farmers. Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that the process to allot residential plots of 100 square yards to families Below the Poverty Line (BPL) and those belonging to Scheduled Castes would commence next month. Initially one village from each district would be chosen for allotment of plots to eligible beneficiaries. The Chief Minister was addressing a conference of workers of the Congress party of Ambala and Kurukshetra parliamentary constituencies in Kurukshetra on Thursday. He said that cards to all 11 lakh BPL families would be issued by September. Although the Central Government had listed 7.5 lakh BPL families in Haryana, the State Government identified 11 lakh such families and they all would get similar facilities as given by the Central Government. Mr. Hooda described the workers of the party as its backbone and said that the Congress party would become strong only if the workers have a policy and they take along their leaders. After Congress came to power, the number of workers and vote bank has increased. He urged the workers to prepare for the next general elections and hoped that the Congress would win all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in the State. Click on Full Story for More.
Mr. Hooda said that he himself being a son of a farmer would assure that the nuclear deal would be in favour of farmers, the poor and the common man in the country. He said that Haryana was the first State in the country to decide that the recommendations of the sixth pay commission would be implemented on the pattern of Central Government.
While criticising the previous regime of Om Parkash Chautala in the State, he said that the previous government did not fulfil the promises made to the farmers. On the other hand, he said that the present State Government waived off arrears of electricity bills amounting to Rs.1600 crore. The Government also implemented a scheme to provide relief to farmers, small shopkeepers and artisans by waiving off interest on their loans. Mr. Hooda added that when Margaret Alva was the Union Sports Minister, she had made a significant contribution to provide sports facility of international standard at the national level. He hoped that boxer Mr. Vijender Kumar, who hails from Bhiwani, would win gold at the Beijing Olympics. On this occasion Mr. Hooda, on behalf of MP Naveen Jindal, donated three air rifles and three air pistols to Kurukshetra Gurukul Shooting Range. He announced to give Rs.4 lakh to Saini Samaj Dharamshala out of his discretionary fund. A momento was presented to AICC General Secretary, Mrs. Margaret Alva on behalf of youth Congress. AICC General Secretary, Margaret Alva said that all opposition parties make false promises when elections are approaching and later disappear. Congress is the only party which implements its programmes to safeguard the interests of weaker sections of the society. She directed the MLAs of the party to remain present in the head office of the party once in a week to redress the grievances of the workers. She also urged that grievances redressed cell be constituted for workers at district level and the functioning of the cell should be monitored.
