InterGlobe Hotels, a joint venture between Interglobe Enterprises and French hotel group Accor, has announced the launch of the first Ibis hotel in India at Gurgaon in the NCR. This is the first in a series of Ibis hotels being developed by the joint venture in India.
The 217 room Ibis Gurgaon is located on the Golf Course artery and features contemporary an all day dining restaurant, bar and meeting room. The hotel is priced at Rs 4400, per night. Ibis hotels will cater to business and leisure travellers in India. The brand espouses the values of quality, simplicity and value.
Currently, InterGlobe Hotels has 11 Ibis hotels at various stages of development across India. The company will add up to 2045 rooms, exceeding initial short-term targets. The Ibis hotels that are under development are located at Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. Ibis Pune and Mumbai are likely to be operational before mid 2009.
InterGlobe Hotels has an active development programme for Ibis hotels in India and another six Ibis hotel sites will be added in 2008. The Ibis development project in the country is part of a major expansion across the Asia Pacific region. Up to 200 Ibis hotels are planned for China, while Ibis is also growing in Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand, as well.
