The Delhi unit of the BJP has termed DDA's announcement to invite applications for allotments of 5,000 flats in the city a joke. It has called for bringing the DDA under the Delhi government for balanced growth of the city.
"In the last allotment, the number of applicants for the allotment of 3,000 flats had reached two lakh. Now this number is going to rise further. The allotment of 5,000 flats in a city like Delhi will be like a drop in the ocean," said Dr Harsh Vardhan, the Delhi BJP chief.
He added that at present the population of Delhi is around 1.75 crore.
"This is the reason why the price of the flats has been fixed from Rs 7.2 to 77 lakhs for each flat and the amount for registration has been fixed as Rs 1.5 lakh which is not only difficult for the people of low income groups to arrange, but also for the people of middle income group," added Dr Vardhan.
He further said that the increase in the rate of interest of home loans at the insistence of the Central government has made these flats beyond the reach of people.
Dr Vardhan said that the main objective of the DDA is balanced development of Delhi and providing flats to the people of Delhi at fair price in which it has failed completely.
He added that the DDA has deviated from its main objective and now it has adopted the policies of big builders.
The DDA had on Friday announced the invitation of applications for allotments of around 5,000 flats in the different areas in the city. The application forms priced Rs 100 each would be available from August 6.
