After the announcement of setting up a Boxing Academy in Bhiwani, Haryana Chief Minister today said a Wrestling and a Kabaddi academy would also be established in the state to promote sports in a big way.
This announcement was made by the Chief Minister in the Haryana Assembly, while speaking on a motion congratulating the Olympic medalists and other sportsmen for their commendable performance in the Beijing Games.
He said a Football Academy was already being set up in Bhondsi in Gurgaon. He also announced boxer Vijender Kumar would also be allotted a HUDA plot in the city of his choice.
The Haryana Government has already given a cash award of Rs 50 lakh to Vijender, Rs 25 lakh each to boxers Akhil Kumar, Jitender Kumar, wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt, Sushil Kumar, gold medalist shooter Abhinav Bindra, badminton player Saina Nehwal and SAI boxing coach Jagdish Singh, Rs 11 lakh each to discus thrower Krisha Punia, shooter Sanjeev Rajput and boxer Dinesh.
Hooda also announced the Arjuna and the Dronacharya awardees in the state would also be given a lifetime pension of Rs 5000 month per month. A similar pension was under consideration for the Bhima awardees in the state, he added.
