Commuting between Delhi and Gurgaon in low-floored AC buses has become cheaper as Haryana Roadways decided to lower the fare to make it at par with Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses. The revised prices were effective from Tuesday.
AC buses given by Haryana Urban Development Authority were plying from Gurgaon to different destinations in Delhi on three routes. One route is Gurgaon-Karol Bagh, the second is Gurgaon-Shivaji Stadium and the third route is Gurgaon-Safdarjung.
As per the revised fares, passengers will have to pay Rs 30 for going to Dhaula Kuan from Gurgaon which was earlier Rs 40. Similarly, for Karol Bagh, the fare will be Rs 35 while earlier it was Rs 60.
The passenger will now pay Rs 25 less for reaching Karol Bagh from Gurgaon. Fare from Gurgaon to Shivaji Stadium will be Rs 35 instead of Rs 60 and for Safdarjung it will be Rs 35 which was earlier Rs 50.
The step taken by administration came as a relief to passengers as they have been demanding that the fares be lowered since last December when five low- floor AC buses between Gurgaon and Delhi were started.
"I am happy because now I will have to pay less to take the comfortable AC ride, but I wish there were more than the existing five buses. It is only a matter of chance that you get an AC bus while waiting at the bus stop," said Neelima, a student who commutes everyday to Delhi.
