Employers in India expect the labour market to keep up its momentum in the fourth quarter of 2008. According to a survey by Manpower India, India is a bright spot when it comes to getting jobs.
So global slowdown is not eating away one's chances of job hopping in India and employees should not give in yet to those trumpeting slowdown fears.
Indian employers are the most optimistic says the survey by Manpower Inc, a global HR firm rating India as No.1 for the second consecutive quarter.
"Overall, employment outlook is very promising in India. If one looks at globally, India is the most promising country in the world even today from the employment perspective," Naresh Malhan, Manpower MD, says.
Although Indian employers continue to be the most optimistic, slowdown is now a reality.
Feeling the heat is the financial sector where the 'optimism factor is down by 11 per cent this quarter.
"Particularly in finance and real estate sector, it it quiet severe one whereas in pure service sector like IT, ITES, it is not that significant. It is there but it it not that significant," Malhan says.
But there is good news for those working in the primary sector. The survey revealed that employers in mining and construction are the most optimistic while employers in northern India are more optimistic than their counterparts in the south, east and west.
