On An Uncomfortable Edge, Nothing Has Been Done To Strengthen Security In The AreaBy nargis, Section Civic Problems in Gurgaon ![]() Lop sided view comes forth as the residents of C-2 block, Palam Vihar express security concerns in the neighbourhood, while security agencies contradict by saying it is a safe place to live. GP delves deeper On the face of it, if Palam Vihar has everything in place for residents to feel secure, people living in C 2 block are a distressed lot. Residents living in this part of Palam Vihar have been living under security threats for almost a year now. Despite repeated communication to concerned officials, residents say, nothing has been done to strengthen security in the area. This block at one end of Palam Vihar has been allegedly attracting miscreants from the nearby unauthorised colonies and villages - who consider the area a perfect place for open air booze. Car-borne people have been seen by residents drinking openly and playing loud music in their cars just outside the main park of the colony in broad day light. Women and children fear coming out of their homes after sunset as unidentified outsiders often lurk around the colony. Source: Gurgaon Plus On an uncomfortable edge Click On "Full Story" For More...
"Security in Block C 2 of Palam Vihar has totally collapsed. Few days before Diwali last year, two men and a woman had beaten up a security guard severely for objecting to their wrongdoings. Despite complaints, none from the Star Facilities Management Limited (SFML) or the security agency came to his rescue and it is not even known if the guard survived," complains Ravi Wahi, a resident of the area.
On a similar note, another resident of the area NK Bansal informed that despite informal communication to the police and the Resident's Welfare Association (RWA), security issues of the area never received due consideration. Bansal retorts, "Unidentified people get inside this residential area in inebriated state and resort to drinking more, purchasing the same from nearby liquor shops. We expect the security agency and the local police to be more active and look into the matter." Rajat Biswas, Director, SFML, (a subsidiary of the developer) filled in that the SFML has employed additional security personnel and private security guards in the area some time back and security situation in the area is not alarming. "Our security personnel communicate with walkie-talkies, we have seven motorcycles for 24x7 mobile surveillance and we are also planning to install CCTVs at key areas," says Biswas. The Palam Vihar RWA also confirms that neighbourhood security in Palam Vihar is not a matter of concern; instead they are focusing on other civic issues.
