Though the road is less than 25 km long, it takes more than an hour to cover the distance during peak hours. After the project, this will change.
![]() Traffic jams on the Faridabad Gurgaon Road will be a thing of past as the agency engaged for widening the road has started the survey of the road.
The length of the road is 24.31 km. The cost of the project is Rs 180 crore and period of its completion is 18 months. The road is being constructed on a build-operate-transfer basis. Reliance Infrastructure, the agency that has undertaken the widening project, has started studying the turns, gradient and steep stretches to make the road more comfortable. Some of the dangerous turns are as follows: Gwal Pahari, Ghata, before Mangar, near TERI and Bandhwari. Under the present situation it is difficult to drive down the road at a high speed. There are steep curves that make it difficult to pick up speed. There is heavy movement on the road. Over 7,000 dumpers use this road every day, as also 5,000 cars, two-wheelers, buses and trucks. Reliance Infrastructure project manager Vibhuti Narayan said 70 per cent of the survey is over. "The survey is on at full pace.
We should be able to finish it in a month. After that we will go ahead with the widening work," he said. "Though the road is less than 25 km long, it takes more than an hour to cover the distance during peak hours," said Lalit Prasad, who goes from his residence in Neighbourhood-5 to Gurgaon for work.
He hopes that with the widening of the road, driving will become less dangerous. "Even if one has to pay toll tax for using the road, it is worth it," said Prasad.
