Hooda Announces To Open Female Medical College In HaryanaBy ugesh sarkar, Section GN
In an honour for first Indian female astronaut late Kalpna Chawla, a medical college in her memory will be soon be established in the state, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced yesterday. Speaking at the 60th Republic Day celebrations in Jhajjar Hooda said Kalpna Chawla Medical College will soon be setup at Karnal and the state government has initiated scheme to promote health infrastructure at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore.
The Chief Minister unfurled the tri-colour and took salute at an impressive parade presented by the contingents of Haryana Armed Police, NCC cadets, scouts and guide and home guards, and official spokesman said here. Hooda said sanction has been accorded for Faridabad metro and Gurgaon metro rail would have a trial run on January 29. To promote good road infrastructure in Haryana during last five years, a sum of Rs 6,400 crore had been incurred on improvement and carpeting of roads, meanwhile the proposal for Rohtak-Jhajjar-Rewari railway line has been approved, he said. Hooda said the second phase of the Rs 5,000-crore Rajiv Gandhi Bridges and Roads Infrastructure Development has been launched and cooperative loan scheme for landless farmers, labourers, rural artisans would also be launched soon. Under the scheme loan amounting to Rs 10,000 would be waived off. Speaking about the loan limit to rural artisans and shopkeepers Hooda said the limit would be increased from Rs 25,000 to 35,000. The Dadupur-Nalvi Canal was being constructed and its first phase had already been completed and the remaining work would be completed by June 30, 2010, Hooda said adding, efforts were on to get sanction from Water Commission of India for Ambala irrigation and Mewat irrigation scheme. The Chief Minister also added a new agreement would be made for construction for Renuka Barrage and government is committed to bring the waters of Ravi and Beas rivers through Satluj Ymuna Link (SYL) to the agricultural fields. Hooda honoured freedom fighters, war widows, gallantry awardees by presenting them a shawl and a gift pack. He also gave away appreciation letters to those who had done commendable work in various fields. The village sarpanches were honoured with Nirmal Puraskaar by the Chief Minister.
